Green Smoothies

Right before I came down with pneumonia I impulse-purchased a book about green smoothies.  While I know blended fruit and veges isn’t for everyone (Kevin HATES the concept – he’s a real texture-oriented eater), I have to say I am  pleasantly surprised how much I am enjoying a daily smoothie.  So, with that in mind, I thought I would make a quick recipe post to share my two favorite recipe to-date (both are iterations of recipes found in the book):

Favorite 1
2 cups of water
2 huge handfuls of spinach
1/2 cup kale
2 pears, diced
2 kiwis, diced
3/4 cup of broccoli

In a blender, add water, spinach and kale.  Mix well.  Add remining ingredients.  Mix well.  Makes 2 servings.

Favorite 2
2 huge handfuls of spinach
1.5 cups frozen mango (thawed in microwave)
2 bananas
