Guess Jeans

Sunny

These photos were taken on the weekend (Sat morning).  It was still a little cool out so I threw on a scarf – first time I have worn a scarf since the spring.  Part of me is sad that fall is coming, but the other part of me knows that we still have plenty of hot, humid days left.

Oh Canada

Sorry for the blog silence recently.  My last week was hectic (then again, whose wasn’t?) – between dog issues and a death in the family, I had little time to get any posts up.

Onto happier things.  This is one of the outfits I wore on Canada Day.  It is an unofficial rule that Canadians should wear red on July 1.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of red in my closet  – mostly because I hate the way it makes my face look more flushed.  The paisley print isn’t so bad (probably b/c the red is broken up?), so it was hands-down my go-to choice for yesterday.

Silk blouse:  J.Crew Rhea Popover (similar)

Night Course

image

On Wednesday night I took a 4-hour course on general dog grooming.  I learned how to clean Scooter’s ears properly and about more effective brushing techniques (among other things).  However, the biggest surprise of the night was the lesson on anal gland expression (um, what????).  I have to plead complete ignorance and admit I never knew there was such a thing as anal glands, let alone that I as a dog owner might need to “express” them.  Needless to say, I think I will put “anal gland expression” on Kevin’s list of “man jobs” 🙂

SHOP THIS LOOK

A theme…

I have been working on a DIY project on-and-off for the last week.  Hopefully I will have it done soon.  Can’t wait to post it 🙂

Yesterday I made dinner for one of my girlfriends.  We spent hours talking and catching up (it was one of those great cathartic girlfriend talks).  It’s amazing what a good conversation can do for the soul – today a feel far more relaxed than I have felt in a long time.

Silk polka-dot blouse: J.Crew (or similar or here)
Denim Blazer:  H&M (similar or here)
Jeans:  Guess (similar)
Necklace: ZAD (similar)
Clutch: Vieta (similar here and here)
Boots:  Enzo Angiolini ‘Karissa’

A hypochondirac moment…

image

I bought these Enzo Angiolini boots on Hautelook a few weeks ago & they finally arrived yesterday.  Unfortunately, I had a mini-panic attack when I took them out of the box because there was a white powder substance all over them.  Naturally, I immediately thought of anthrax & forcefully tossed the boots onto my balcony.  I did a quick Google search, but had no luck finding info about Enzo Angiolini boots covered with white powder.  So, I decided to call Hautelook. Their customer service rep was very pleasant, but she had no idea why I would have white powder on the boots – her suggestion was that something had simply fallen in the box during packaging.  Okay – like what?  Poison?  Eeeeek!  This is seriously how my mind works sometimes.  Next, I tried calling The Jones Group – the North American distributor of Enzo Angiolini boots.  I had to leave a voice mail for Tina, their customer service rep.  So far, no response.  So, I was still freaking out, and decided to give Google search another try.  I ended up finding my boots on Piperlime, accompanied by a warning that the boots will have a leather protector on them when they first arrive.  Phew – I am going to assume the white powder is just a leather protector.  Why would there not have been a product insert in the box discussing the protective coating?  Since I don’t believe white powdered boots are the norm, a little information would have been nice.  That’s my helpful thought of the day 🙂

Top:  Zara
Pants:  Guess Jeans
Bag:  Steve Madden
Scarf:  Joe Fresh
Glasses:  Armani Exchange
Necklace:  Amrita Singh
Bracelets:  Mexx, Ricki’s
Boots:  Enzo Angiolini ‘Karissa’ boots (should have stuck to my gut and ordered a 7.5.  The size 8 is just slightly too big.  I will keep the size 8’s becasue it is not possible to switch them for a size 7.5 – I would have to wait for the next Enzo Angiolini sale & hope these boots were featured.  Too much work and too much time).

Beige and gold

This morning I went for a walk and found myself in the middle of the city’s Terry Fox Run.  There was no signage posted stating an event was taking place, so I think it was an honest mistake that I stumbled onto the course path.  I must of missed the runners, because on first glance it just looked like there were a lot of people out walking by the waterfront.  That were wearing the same t-shirt.  But I, absorbed with my walking daydream, didn’t notice the t-shirt thing immediately.  It was only after walking through a ‘cheering area’ and being told by eager volunteers that “you are doing great”, “keep it up”, “you are amazing” did I realize something was amiss.  High off the praise of random strangers, I decided to get off the waterfront path.  It was only at that point did I see a Terry Fox Run tent and notice the abundance of white (which I am assuming were) Terry Fox Run t-shirts.  So, congratulations to everyone who took place in Today’s Terry Fox Run, and all the other runs being held across Canada this month.  And thank you to the random volunteers whose nice words made my day (although a part of me feels guilty for accepting their praise because I was not actually a run participant).

Later in the day, I threw on this:

Blouse: Gap
Jeans: Guess
Shoes: Cole Haan ‘Air Andi’ ballet flat (bought super cheap at a going-out-of-business sale a few days ago)
Purse: New Look
Glasses: Armani Exchange
Necklace: Amrita Singh
