I quickly took these photos last Saturday before attending a friend’s wedding.  It was the first time since early June that I had attempted heels and I was determined to make it work,  Unfortunately, even a minimal amount of walking proved too much & I reluctantly changed into flats after the ceremony.  Too much too soon…

Dress:  homemade ~2008 {I really love the neckline & have been planning to make a white cotton sundress with the same patten..just hasn’t happened yet}
Bracelet:  Lulu’s cuff {old!}; thrifted bangles; Gorjana gold leather wrap
Ring:  Amrita Singh
Shoes:  Charles David Reverse {also here and here}

I am slowly trying to fill gaps in my closet – for example, I finally purchased a plain white button-down shirt last week {this one}.  These flats were bought in March as part of the same initiative.  A beige shoe is a nice neutral that can be paired with almost anything 🙂

I have spent the last week feeling guilty about not updating the blog, so last night I finally managed to take a few quick pictures in the backyard.  As you can see, I am still side-lined due to my ankle sprain…2+ weeks and counting…  That being said, I am acutely aware that there are far worse things than a sprain and crutches, so I am trying to count my blessings and take this all in stride.

I have been making a conscious effort to try and hide my leg/ankle as much as possible (despite the racing-stripe tape job, I highly doubt anyone wants to see my swollen and bruised leg).  Maxi skirts and loose linen pants have been in high rotation.

Shirt:  Topshop grandpa shirt {from 2011}
Scarf:  somewhat homemade {am I allowed to say “homemade” when I really just went and bought some sale flannel at Fabricland and called it a scarf? I have been admiring chunky plaid scarves all winter, so when I couldn’t find one in stores, Fabricland seemed like an easy (and cheap!) second option}
Pants:  Yoga Jeans by Second Denim
Purse:  Walter
Boots:  Enzo Angiolini Karissa

{Homemade} Green peplum top and my favorite sandals!

Top:  homemade {made with  drapery fabric that I found in a blow-out bin.  Unfortunately I didn’t take any closeups, but the fabric has a great texture to it.  I think I may add some darts to the front of the bodice to help reduce some of the bulkiness}  {similar BR option}
Pants:  Guess {old, probably 2008}
Sunglasses:  Armani Exchange
Bracelets:  Jacob white leather bangles, thrifted ‘gold’ bangles, Club Monaco wrap bracelet
Clutch:  Le Chateau
Shoes: Jean-Michel Cazabat ‘Ozara’ {also seen here in a somewhat similar look} {similar JMC shoe}

Fair isle sweater and a blazer

fair isle sweater homemade diy fall autumn outfit

I love with this outfit for a few reasons:  1) it’s warm, and since I’m STILL sick, warm is important;  2) my mom made this sweater [for herself when I was about 5 years old  – at the time I had the matching pink and blue version which made for some cute family photos 🙂 ].

Green jeans and layering sweaters

Completely unrelated to today’s post:
While at home sick last week, I discovered the hilarious art of Dog Shaming.  Let me tell you – I spent some serious quality time browsing this adorably hilarious website.  Kevin thinks we should upload a photo of Scooter, although our gripes pale in comparison to most of the other submissions.  Scooter enjoys redistributing our laundry all over the house and licking Kevin awake in the morning…not exactly the stuff of Dog Shaming…
